Lessons

Each weekly lesson lasts for a full hour,  the first 30 minutes is mostly like a normal lesson working on technique, scales, rudiments, chords, grooves etc. The last 30 minutes is spent working on a few songs which are performed in the last 10 minutes of the lesson.

The lessons are designed to be easy  and fun, with the aim of helping students learn their chosen instrument and to get playing as soon as possible.  You won’t need to learn musical notation before starting as we will work on this with you.

You can take the lesson at your own pace, and your tutor will be there to help you with any problems you are having.

For the last 10 minutes of each session, you’ll get to try out what you’ve learned in a live performance with your fellow students as well as the tutors.

Lessons are based on 2 students to 1 tutor, occasionally these are 1-1 depending how busy the class is. There is a maximum of 9 students in a class.

GRADES

Once students have learnt the basics of their respective instruments, we tend to move on to grade material. This is in no way a requirement and students aren't required to take their grade exam unless they wish to but we find it is good material to work on either way.

We use the Trinity Rock and Pop, Rockschool and RGT (for acoustic guitar) syllabuses.

RESULTS

We have had a 100% pass rate at Rock Jam for all our students since we started over 5 years ago with most students acquiring merits or higher. On average we have around 10-12 students taking exams every exam period (3 months or so apart)
